Gravity Spiral Concentrator Working Principle
The processes involved in mineral concentration by spirals are similar for all models. As feed containing 25-35% solids by volume is fed into the channel, minerals immediately begin to settle and classify. Particles with the greatest specific gravity rapidly settle to the bottom of the spiral and form a slow-moving fluid film.
Spiral classifier or hydrocyclone
The mechanical classifier requires less power and has lower maintenance costs than the hydrocyclone and its feed pump. The underflow product from the mechanical classifier can have a higher solids content and contain less entrapped undersize particles than the comparable product from the hydrocyclone.
